By using the versatile set of tools offered by DirectX it is possible for the computer programmer to create the more striking graphic elements and video games. Also, this software includes the further option of being able to help facilitate the use of multimedia.

Basics

DirectX is an Application Programming Interface (API) that is designed to work with the multimedia related features of the PC, including the graphic and programming aspects of video games. By using this software, it is possible to make it easier for a series of software programs to interact much more efficiently with each other.

Components

DirectX is now on the eleventh generation (DirectX 11) of this software tool and is split into a variety of components that work in unison to create the perfect tool for video and graphic applications. Direct2D and DirectDraw are used in applications that require drawings in 2D graphics. Also, Direct3D is included and helps create the visually stunning 3D graphics. DirectCompute components help with handling the CPU and GPU. DirectWrite helps to manage the more exciting on-screen fonts. Accomplished Graphic Designers Expand Into the Digital Media Market

Jul 14 2020 Published by under Uncategorized

The definition of graphic design is expanding as new technologies grow. Skilled graphic designers solve visual communication problems or troubles. Proficient in design, drawing, color, typography, production, and rendering methods, off-set printing, as well as common software used in the graphic-design market such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are necessary. With the development in new media, a comprehension about photography, and time-based and interactive media including film, video, and computer multimedia also are of great importance to keep abreast of technology. Although graphic-designers find solutions primarily for print, advertisements, annual reports, packaging, business stationery, brochures, flyers, catalogues, logos, and just about anything you can think of to help businesses stand out, their design “eye” is also used in electronic media sources such as video and audio recordings, multimedia presentations, slide presentations, CD-ROM and website content.

Determining the social and cultural norms of a specific audience helps graphic artists efficiently construct visual solutions. They need to identify the communication’s issue, then collect and examine information related to the issue, and finally crank out numerous approaches to solve the problem. Effective graphic design is perceived as understandable, appropriate, and useful. We see graphic design everywhere in our daily lives in magazines, newspapers, and books, in hand made work, on painted canvas, expressed through photography, or in pure text. The work of graphic artists and its impression has been around for many years.

While in art school, students take graphic and design courses aimed at both print and multimedia design. It is in the best interest of graphic artists to be introduced to both areas, because many designers work in the visual development of web design. If artists want to remain competitive, graphic / web designers must keep up to date with the latest software and computer technologies. In the constantly changing field of graphic design, there are website designers who also are graphic designers and vice versa. However, there are other artists who have decided to specialize only in print related graphic design or only in web site design and its development with a concentration on the technical side of web site building.

It’s fascinating to note that currently many people associate graphic artists only with the print medium. But the times are changing. Even though website designers are not able to exist without the web, and graphic artists really don’t need the web to practice their profession, there are numerous artists involved in the visual creation of websites. Within just the commercial art field there are discussions among artists about the differences between graphic and web designers. Many feel that website design is a sub category of graphic-design.

However, website designers have to take into consideration content design and usability, user experience, and other functional criteria which all relate to the particular features of the Web medium. Website designers need more skills beyond those of traditional graphic artists, whereas the conventional graphic designer continues to find answers to communication problems by deciding on color, font, and images. The conventional graphics job may call for branding such as logo design that showcase a particular idea or identity to be used in a business enterprise’s advertising and other marketing strategies, or almost anything you can think of to enable a group stand out, or it may require constructing posters, signs, brochures, books, or incredible images in the digital media.

Discerning graphic artists do become knowledgeable about the wants for elegant web design while working closely with the web developers, who will turn their visual web designs into the code which enables them to be displayed on the Internet. For the artists who also welcome the technical side of web site creation, they may end up either exchanging their graphic artists’ role for website designer hats or just using both simultaneously!

Is Including Multimedia Important For Your Website Success?

Jul 14 2020 Published by under Uncategorized

In today’s era where technology is on a boom and reaching a new height day by day we must understand the need of graphics and their importance in our content which we use in our web pages to represent our business.

Apart from importance in content, there are several aspects in GUIs (Graphic User Interfaces) to be kept in mind if we are thinking of introducing new graphics or improvise existing graphics in our web page such as its relativity to the content and the topic, clarity of expression in the exact manner we want to portray. Further, we should make sure that the content we are uploading should be out of the box and unique or should be at par with the competitors. Well the best advice for beginners in the designing field is that they can keep themselves in customer’s place and then realize how to make a catchy GUI for any webpage.

Any market research will yield the same result that the webpages with better GUIs, more visual content such as videos, animations, images have far more conversion ratio as compared to those webpages who involve less visual content. Although quality also plays a vital role in business generation, but Visual content is a very important requirement which adds a better look, also provides a better understanding to the viewer. Recent studies have shown that any webpage visitor in general reads around only 20-25% of the text content where in rest 75-80% visual content, Social Media also uses around 40-45% of its space to share visual content than compared to any other format, all these are indications that the consumers are nowadays more keen to get a visual content than text

Also, when we talk about Visual/Graphic/Media content, we ought to mention that they are relatively easy to understand and science also approves that they reach the human brain faster than textual content. Further, the visual content which is very important lately for our webpages, an advice to all the fellow developers, we should not totally forget about the textual content. Yeah, the introduction of Graphics, Visuals or Media will take space and hence we have to insert only limited textual data to compensate as none of the consumers like heavy or extra ordinarily lengthy webpages. The textual content, however, should be to the point, crisp and must look attractive if we want our webpage to generate better traffic and yield a good amount of business for us.

Visual and Textual content, both go hand in hand. In the end, the most important thing is relevancy to the subject and quality of approach which we want to present to our customers for better marketing.

Distinction Between Mixed Media And Multimedia Art

Jul 14 2020 Published by under Uncategorized

There’s an essential distinction between “mixed media” artworks and “multimedia art”. Mixe media does mean a work of visual art that mixes different traditionally unique visual art media. For instance, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could well be called a “mixed media” work and not a work of “multimedia art.” The term multimedia art implies a broader scope than mixed media, mixing visual art with non-visual components such as recorded sound, for example or with elements of the other arts such as literature, drama, dance, motion graphics, music, or interactivity.

When making a painted or photographed work by using mixed media, it is very important select the layers carefully and allow sufficient drying time between the layers so that the finished work is going to have integrity. If numerous media are employed, it is equally important to choose a strong foundation upon which the different layers are imposed. An expression occasionally utilized in connection to mixed media is, “Fat over lean.” In other words: “never start with oil paints. Intend to make them the last layer.”

Use home items or leftover craft items from previous projects to create mixed media jewelry. Combine glass, stones, gems, metals and also beads for a personalized bracelet or necklace. Change the hues and sizes to provide more dimension as well as consistency to the piece. Try out different combinations. As soon as you have chosen your elements, string them together in a random fashion. Using such things as doilies and pieces of drapes or table linens, add more edge and embellishment for more pizzazz. A sculpture can be as elaborate or simple as you desire. This causes it to be perfect for children. Have children form animal shapes out of crumpled newspaper and then cover the shapes with glue. Or assist children form chicken wire into animal forms then cover the wire with newspapers and paper-mache glue. Paint the sculptures and put beads or marbles for details such as noses and eyes. Utilize cotton balls or perhaps an old coat’s lining for hair. You can even use coloured toothpaste, which will solidify and add texture to the piece.

There’s absolutely no limit to the amount, groups, or kind of items that can be created to a collage. Utilize the correct glue to secure the items into place. People who are just learning how to accomplish mixed media believe it is the easiest to group together identical items. Watch out for an artistic flow through the piece that carries your eye from one spot to another. There’s no right answer to making a collage or mixed media project.

Numerous effects is possible by using mixed media. Found items can be utilized in conjunction with conventional artist media, such as paints and graphite, to convey a meaning in the daily life. In this manner, numerous aspects of art become a lot more flexible than with traditional artist media. This art is undoubtedly an artistic trend that combines elements of several disciplines, such as sculpture, portrait-drawing and digital art, in one particular piece of artwork. The environmental or “green” movement has been rising in popularity for several years and is likely to continue rising later on, thus a mixed media art project focused on environmentalism would be ideal for earth-conscious artists.

Multimedia in Computer Graphics

Jul 14 2020 Published by under Uncategorized

The word multimedia is made up of two separate words, multi meaning many, and media meaning ways through which information may be transmitted. Therefore, multimedia can be described as an integration of multiple media elements together to influence the given information so that it can be presented in an attractive and interactive manner. In simple words, multimedia means being able to communicate in more than one way. Traditionally, information was presented in a single medium only, be it newspaper or radio or television. With the development of computers, presenting data has taken an entirely new meaning. Multimedia is a computerized method of presenting information by combining audio, video, graphics, texts, and or animation components. For example, a multimedia database of musical instruments may allow a user not only to search and retrieve text about a particular instrument but also to see its pictures and play a piece of music. The advent of high-resolution screens and sound and video playback facilities for computers has resulted in the increased use of multimedia applications.

A typical multimedia application is characterized by some features which are as follows:

· Uses of digital technology

· Demands interaction from the user

· Integrates sound, images, text, and data into seamless applications.

As we know, multimedia is mainly concerned with the computer-controlled integration of text, graphics, drawings, still or moving images (video), animation and audio where every type of information can be represented, stored, transmitted, and processed digitally. The various elements that together constitute multimedia are as follows:

Text

The on-screen display of words, that is, text, is the base of most applications. Humankind developed text and symbols so that they could communicate. Writing helped human to remember things for a much longer period than what is possible with the help of memory (brain). Words and symbols in any form, spoken or written, are the most common means of communication. These days not only is the text capable of displaying information, but it has also gained interactivity; things like an electronic annotation, which assist in navigating through all the information presented on the Web by means of hypertext. A hypertext can be defined as an object in the text that allows the user to jump from one web page to another at a click of the mouse button. It acts like electronic footnotes and assists in navigating through all the information. Files may contain raw text or formatted text. For example, hypertext markup language (HTML), a program language source (C, Pascal) or rich text format (RTF)-a file format for text files that includes formatting like different font styles and typefaces and so on. The basic storage of text is 1 byte per character (text or format character). For other forms of data such as spreadsheet files, some may store format as text (with formatting), others may use binary encoding. Text can be written using various text editing and processing tools such as Word Processing Software such as Microsoft Word and Word Perfect where text file can be developed and later imported into the multimedia authoring tools to integrate with other media elements.

Graphics

It is a generic term used to describe the pictorial representation of data. When one talks about graphics, we generally tend to refer those pictorial representations that are created by the primitive objects such as lines, polygons, circles, curves, and arcs. For example, a picture of a cube can be drawn using lines and a pie chart can be drawn using lines and arcs. Images are still pictures that are represented as a bitmap (a grid of pixels) but, graphics are usually editable or revisable (unlike images). Generally, graphic input devices include keyboard, mouse, trackball or light pens.It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so by adding a graphic element into a text-based document can change the user’s perception towards the document. Integration of the graphics element into the application makes it more elegant and understandable. Growing technology has produced a wealth of graphics and visual imagery for a multimedia project. For the development of multimedia project, various images are captured from different sources like scanners, digital cameras, and through the Internet. Once the images are transformed into digitised form, they can be edited and modified using image editing software, namely, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, and Freehand.

Audio

It means the sensation resulting from stimulation of the auditory mechanism by airwaves or vibrations. It is the vibration of air molecules in the atmosphere that can be sensed by the ear. It involves transmission of mechanical vibration by an elastic medium that is capable of being detected by the human ear. Computers and digital technology have changed the face of music industry. Today, digital music is used to produce special effects in televisions, films, in recording studios, and in games. Music and sound effects not only add interactivity with the user but also play with the user’s perception and emotions. Audio can also be used to provide a sense of place or mood as done to perfection in the game. Music is probably the most obvious form of sound. It can be used to set a mood, convey an idea, and even tell a story. Speech is also a perfect way for teaching users the pronunciation of words as done by the speech learning software. Non-speech sound effects can be used in the user interface to inform users about background events. For example, sound of the progress of a file download could be signalled by the sound of water pouring into a glass that gradually fills up. These kinds of background sounds have to be non-intrusive. Moreover, Sounds can be embedded into a web page and can be played.

Video

It refers to the moving picture accompanied by sound such as a movie on television. It is a medium that is as direct as print and catches more attention. It adds richness to content and enhances the user’s experience. It dramatises and gives impact to the multimedia application. Integrating video element in a multimedia application provides a great deal of information in a short time. If used in a planned and well-executed manner, it can make dramatic differences in the multimedia presentation. Digital video is useful in multimedia applications for showing real life objects, such as people talking or real life illustrations of concepts. Video places the highest performance demand on the computer memory and on the bandwidth if placed on the Internet. In terms of computers and Internet, the major problems with most videos are that their production quality is too low and they have a very large file size. To make video usable, video files need to be compressed in different file formats.

Animation

Itis the process of sequencing still images in rapid succession to give the effect of live motion. The sequence of images is shown one after the other very quickly so that the human eye and brain blend the images to produce the effect of motion. It is a powerful tool capable of communicating complex ideas. It is often much easier to show somebody how things work then to try to explain it. Animation is viable because of a natural phenomenon known as persistence of vision. An object seen by the human eye remains mapped on the eye’s retina for a short time interval after viewing. This makes it possible for a series of images that are changed very slightly and very rapidly, one after the other, to seemingly merge into a visual illusion of movement. In other words, if one just changes slightly the location or shape of an object rapidly enough, the eye will perceive the changes as motion. An animated sequence has to show a certain number of frames every second. For professional animation, one needs to have at least 30 frames per second.

In today’s challenging world, if the ideas of the presentation are not expressed in an effective manner then the presentation is a failure. One way of expressing imaginative ideas is by using graphics. Graphics can be presented in various modes which are described as follows:

· Background:It sets the tone and the theme of the presentation. It should be based on the type of information that is to be conveyed. For example, if the information is more text oriented, then simple background images should be used. In case, the information is to be conveyed to little kids then background should be more animated and colourful.

· Two-dimensional (2D) graphics:Usually, when one is looking at a computer screen, then he/she is at a two-dimensional image. The image spans from left to right and top to bottom but usually not in and out of the computer screen. A 2D image definition contains only information about how a scene appears from a particular point.

· Three-dimensional (3D) graphics:A 3D image contains information about the scene in three dimensions (x, y, and z coordinates). However, this 3D data cannot be viewed directly. In order to view it, first the 3D data must be converted into a 2D image by the computer using a process known as rendering. The rendering process takes as input the 3D scene and the location and attributes of a camera and produces as output the 2D image that the camera sees from that particular point in space. The process is done by mathematically projecting a 3D scene onto a 2D surface. In photography, this is done by the camera lens, but in computer graphics, this is done by solving mathematical equations. In both cases, the result is a 2D image that has been generated from a 3D scene.

· Charts and graphs:In business and training-related multimedia projects, charts and graphs are the most appropriate forms of graphics used for presenting facts and figures related information.

· Flowcharts: The use of the flowcharts expresses the systematic order of an event. They are developed mainly to break the complex problem-solving steps into smaller, less complicated steps so that developing logic becomes easier. They are also used for representing 2D graphics.
